Hans joined NLO in 1995. Previously, he worked as a European Patent Attorney with Procter & Gamble in Brussels, Newcastle and Frankfurt. Hans started his career in 1987 with Philips Electronics in Eindhoven (Netherlands) as a trainee patent attorney in the field of electron microscopy and medical devices.



Hans specialises in physics, automotive technology, offshore technology, medical devices, packaging, transport and electrical and optical devices. He advises clients on value creation through IP and strategic portfolio management. He has been involved in numerous valuations and due diligence projects. He has extensive expertise in opposition proceedings and litigation before the Dutch Courts. He advises in R&D projects and takes an integrated approach towards his clients’ business plans and Intellectual Assets.



Hans has an MSc in Physics from Deft University of Technology (Netherlands) in nuclear power plant design.


Member of

Hans has been on the board of the Netherlands Institute of Patent Attorneys and is a member of the Professional Conduct Committee of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (EPI). He is a member of Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle (AIPPI), the Dutch Group of the International Association (AIPPI), Fédération Internationale des conseils en propriété Industrielle (FICPI) and Licensing Executives Society (LES).
