Martina joined NLO in 2017. Prior to this, she worked for the Belgian biopharmaceutical company Ablynx (2008-2014), working on the improvement of immunisation techniques and the development of Nanobodies® to tackle various target classes. At Ablynx she was responsible for several early drug discovery projects up until preclinical proof-of-concept. She then moved to the Technology Transfer Office of the Flemish Institute for Biotechnology VIB (2014-2017), where she acquired experience in science valorisation, invention scouting and IP.
Martina’s core expertise lies in the field of life sciences, particularly in antibody technology, immunology, molecular biology and vaccines.
Martina graduated with an MSc in microbiology and a PhD in biomedical sciences and immunology, focusing on novel mechanisms involved in T cell receptor signalling. Martina performed academic research at the Karl Franzens University of Graz (Austria), the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (Germany), the University of Porto (Portugal) and the Harvard Medical School in Boston (USA).
