Maarten joined NLO in 1997. Previously, he worked at the Dutch National Aerospace Laboratory NLR in Amsterdam, in the field of avionics.



Maarten specialises in electrical engineering, energy, telecommunications, medical technology, signal processing, physics, and computer-implemented inventions (including business methods). He works for numerous companies in a wide variety of technical fields. His broad IP experience ranges from advice on innovations and their relationship to intellectual property, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, to provide strategic IP advice. Maarten has been involved in a number of successfully completed oppositions and appeals at the European Patent Office and infringement proceedings at the Court of The Hague.

Maarten was also a tutor at the Dutch training institute for patent attorneys from 2004 to 2012. From 2007 - 2015 Maarten was part of NLO's management team.



Maarten has an MSc in Electrical Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands, 1990).


Member of

Maarten is substitute member of the Dutch delegation in the epi-Council, and member of the epi European Patent Practice Committee (EPPC), as well as a member of the Dutch Group of the International Association AIPPI.
