Age joined NLO in 2010. He started his patent career in 1996 at a private practice firm in Amsterdam. In 1999, he joined the corporate intellectual property department of ASML, the world’s largest supplier of high-tech lithography equipment which is used by the semiconductor manufacturing industry for producing integrated circuits (ICs or chips).
Age’s specialises in physics, mechanics, optics, measurement techniques, mechatronics and radiation sources. He has extensive experience in prosecuting patent applications before patent offices worldwide, IP risk assessment and managing patent portfolios in an international environment. He is also an expert when it comes to evaluating inventions and patent portfolios, formulating IP strategies in alignment with business strategies and establishing (corporate) procedures for securing IP assets.
Age received his MSc degree in Applied Physics from the University of Twente (1989). He has a PhD from the University of Amsterdam (1995), having carried out his research at the FOM Institute for Atomic and Molecular Physics (Amolf) in Amsterdam on the interaction of gases with metal surfaces.
