Dieter works in the field of biotechnology, specialising in diagnostics and assay development in various disciplines, including glycomics, proteomics, enzymology and immunology.
Dieter graduated from the University of Ghent with a Master’s degree in biotechnology (2006) and a PhD in biomedical sciences (2010). With his thesis, he was one of the finalists for the DSM Science and Technology Awards, an international competition for PhD students from Belgium, the Netherlands and northern Germany. Dieter conducted his research in Professor Nico Callewaert’s laboratory, which resulted in the development and clinical deployment of the first glycomics-based biomarker.
Dieter is the author and co-author of several scientific publications in leading international journals.
