I specialise in the areas of genomics, genome editing, gene therapy, immunology (antibodies and vaccines), metabolic engineering, microbiology and breeding of plants or animals. Over the years I have gained extensive experience in handling adversarial proceedings, both before the national courts, as well as in European opposition proceedings up to the Boards of Appeal.
Prior to joining NLO I headed the IP department of Pharming N.V. and I was a patent attorney at DSM. Before entering the world of IP, I did molecular biological research in both academic and industrial settings at DSM, UC San Diego and the Netherlands Cancer Institute. In addition, represent the Netherlands in the Biotech Committee of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the EPO (EPI).
