Mark Willis

European patent attorney
Before joining NLO in April 2021, I worked at several UK patent firms. Moving to NLO was a logical choice for me because I wanted specialise in food chemistry and NLO has an excellent track record in this field in Europe. In addition to a thorough knowledge of organic chemistry, I have a lot of experience with working with SMEs and large companies. I am currently working on the patent portfolios of several large food multinationals.

Expertise

  • Chemistry
  • Pharma
  • Medical Technology
  • Food

I am a European patent attorney and have a broad range of patent experience in the areas of chemistry, pharmacy, medical technology and nutrition. The main focus of my work is the prosecution of oppositions and appeals for large food multinationals.

I obtained my Master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Manchester (UK). After graduating, I completed a PhD in the field of organic synthesis, also at the University of Manchester. My PhD research focused on the development of synthetic methods towards the synthesis of chaetochalasin A. Thanks to this research, I have gained strong analytical skills which I use to quickly get to the heart of customer’s inventions.

In my spare time I like to cycle and do aikido.
