IAM Patent 1000 recommends NLO and 8 patent attorneys

The IAM Patent 1000 2016: The World’s Leading Patent Professionals identifies the top patent practitioners in key jurisdictions around the globe. In this new edition, 8 patent attorneys of NLO have received a ‘highly recommended’ ranking for ‘Prosecution’.

No outfit in the Netherlands has more individuals selected for inclusion on the IAM Patent 1000 prosecution list than NLO: "Throughout its 127-year history, NLO has pushed the boundaries of what is possible in terms of patent protection. Prudent investment in new IT solutions and systems have kept the customer experience fresh (though the quality consistent), while its refined commercial sensibilities are something of a rarity among the continent’s patent attorney firms."

Recommended individuals

"Life sciences doyen Bart Swinkels is “exceptionally knowledgeable”; the meticulous drafter stands out for the strategic overlay which he applies to his advice. Providing further expertise in the field are Arthur Meekel, David Bot and Mari Korsten. Meekel has impeccable academic credentials, with a PhD in biochemistry and extensive post-doctoral research under his belt; managing partner Bot is a leading authority on innovations in the food sector; while former Novartis man Korsten honed his contentious skills at Bird & Bird and is thus ideally placed to advise on infringement matters."

"High-level industry experience is another hallmark of the team. Chemistry marvel Henk de Boer engaged in cutting-edge research during a stint at Shell; Hans Bottema cut his teeth as a European patent attorney with Procter & Gamble. “Hans Hutter does an outstanding job in the high-technology area and has a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience.” The electrical engineer is a dab hand with software. Polyglot Paul Clarkson brings deep knowledge of US patent law and procedure to the mix; as a former EPO examiner, he knows the lay of the land in Europe, too."
