We are looking for a Paralegal (Formalities officer) to join one of our teams in Mechelen or Ghent. Together with your team, consisting of co-Paralegals and Patent attorneys, you are responsible for the administrative guidance of patent procedures in Belgium as well as abroad.
What will you be doing?
You take care of -and monitor the submission process for patents. Within this process you ensure that all formalities are met during the extension procedure, such as, collecting and sending file documents including powers of attorney, deeds of transfer, texts, drawings and priority documents. You also submit the final applications and send the assignments to the official bodies and agents abroad. In addition, you register and monitor deadlines and ensure that data is processed accordingly in the digital file. You maintain contacts with customers, agents and authorities in Belgium and abroad.
Completed degree on Bachelor level or comparable, preferably within the legal or administrative field.
1 to 3 years relevant professional experience within a commercial environment.
Certified Formalities Officer or willing to follow this course (in The Netherlands).
Very good knowledge of the English language, written as well as spoken.
Able to work accurate, structured and independent within a team.
Affinity with legal procedures is a plus.
