Wannes joined NLO in 2011.
Wannes specialises in organic and organometallic chemistry, homogeneous catalysis and analytical chemistry, including a wide range of spectroscopic techniques. His areas of practice include (bio)chemistry, food technology and sustainable energy.
Wannes has an MSc from the University of Amsterdam (2005), where he studied the new potential in DNA-based transition metal catalysis in the research group of homogeneous catalysis. He also has a PhD degree for research conducted in the field of physical organic chemistry from VU University of Amsterdam (Netherlands, 2012). In this research he synthesized and investigated the molecular and electronic structure of new phosphorus-containing pi-conjugated molecules that are potentially applicable in organic displays (OLEDs).
