Bart de Leeuw

Dutch & European patent attorney
Bart works as a Dutch and European patent attorney at NLO. In his work, he mainly helps clients with their patents in the fields of telecommunications, electrical engineering and software. After completing his master's degrees in mathematics and theoretical physics, Bart started working as a PhD student at the ‘Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica’, in the Scientific Computing group. This group deals with developing methods for simulating and predicting systems with inherent uncertainties. Within this group, he researched algorithms in the field of data assimilation. While working for the ‘Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica’, his research has given him the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in the fields of software, statistics, machine learning, data analysis and numerical mathematics, in particular in the field of non-linear systems with measurement and model errors.

Expertise

  • Computers/Software
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Physics
  • Optics
  • Telecommunications

After my master's degrees in Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, I joined the Centre for Mathematics & Computer Science as a PhD student. There, I conducted research on algorithms in the field of data-assimilation. While working at the Mathematics & Informatica Centre, through my research I had the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in the areas of software, statistics, machine learning, data analysis and numerical mathematics, in particular numerical solution methods for differential equations, among others.
