Portret van Marion Bruin

Marion Bruin

Dutch and European patent attorney
With my broad expertise in organic and polymer chemistry, health care and food technology I advise clients in these and related areas on all aspects of intellectual property. My experience spans the entire lifetime of the patent: drafting patent applications and steering them through proceedings to grant in various jurisdictions, post-grant opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office and patent litigation.

Expertise

  • Oppositions
  • Polymer chemistry
  • Process technology

  • Medicines

After receiving my PhD in organic and organometallic chemistry, I worked as a research chemist in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry for several years. During this time my interest in patent law was sparked and I decided to make the move to the world of intellectual property (IP).

What I love about being a patent attorney is that it gives me the perfect opportunity to combine my interest in science and technology with my passion for patent law.

I enjoy sparring with clients in order to arrive at the IP solution that best fits the situation. This ranges from obtaining the best possible patent protection for innovations, to minimizing risks of infringement of third-party patents or enforcing patent rights against third parties.

Education

  • MSc in chemistry, Utrecht University
  • PhD in organic and organometallic chemistry, University of Geneva (Switzerland)
  • Post-doctoral research in polymer chemistry, Utrecht University
