As a Dutch and European patent attorney, I advise companies in the chemical and food industries. What appeals to me in my work is solving complex issues at the interface between technology and patent law and then advising the client in the best possible way.

I have a background in molecular life sciences, biomedical research and nutrition & health. After my studies in Wageningen, I worked for several years as a researcher at a biotech company. This is where I first came into contact with patents: we carried out an experiment to invalidate a third-party patent. In 2013 I started at NLO and in 2016 I qualified both as a Dutch (cum laude) and European patent attorney.

 I then worked for four years as an in-house patent attorney for a large food company in Singapore. This gives me a good sense of what the client needs. In Singapore, I worked with multidisciplinary teams of many nationalities. Since coming back to the Netherlands I have returned to NLO, working in the chemistry team in The Hague.
