My professional journey is rooted in a solid academic background in nutrition and food science. I graduated from Wageningen University where obtained my MSc degree in Nutrition and Health. Driven by a passion for food technology and innovation, while recognising the critical intersection of science and legal protection, I decided to pursue a career as a trainee patent attorney at NLO. In addition to my academic background in food and nutrition-related science, I also have valuable experience in various mechanical engineering fields. I have worked on projects ranging from the design of food (and beverage) processing equipment to the development of innovative packaging solutions. This hands-on experience has given me a deeper understanding of the engineering principles and challenges involved in creating and patenting mechanical inventions.
Before joining NLO, I gained professional experience supporting the in-house patent team at a multinational company. I then continued working in patent firms, performing general formalities, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, as well as being involved in oppositions and advising clients (infringement, invalidity, landscaping, and competitor analyses). With my all-round professional background in the patent field, I strive to ensure the best interests of my clients. I have also found that I am skilled at getting my point across very well, communicating with people and understanding the needs of my clients regarding their innovations.
