Catherine on her appointment: “I am honoured to become a partner at NLO. The firm’s innovative and client-driven focus has enabled us to build a practice that directly and seamlessly helps our clients develop and protect their interests on both sides of the Atlantic - all from one local office. I am continuously inspired by the innovation of our clients, and look forward to continue the focus on providing the strategic advice and services to enable them to focus on their inventions and core business.”
About Catherine Shultz
Catherine has a degree in Civil Engineering and Juris Doctor (cum laude) from University of Notre Dame, and is admitted before the Minnesota and DC Bars. In 2017 she successfully passed her EQE and became a European patent attorney. She presently heads-up a team of patent attorneys in The Hague, active in the mechanical and telecom areas and is responsible for US prosecution and advice within the firm.
NLO’s clients recommended Catherine in the IAM Patent 1000 edition 2020: “Catherine Shultz has a creative disposition and comes up with great ideas that best accommodate client needs. She knows that saving on cost does not have to mean compromising on quality and resolves matters with the snap of her fingers while maintaining the highest standards.”
US practice
Catherine’s nomination marks the culmination of an eight year project to provide US prosecution and advice directly to our local client base. This has involved training and recruiting sufficient US capability to ensure support across all technical areas, while familiarising clients with the advantages that a local US practice can offer. The partners of NLO are confident that Catherine is the right choice to take this project to the next level as a permanent fixture in the NLO suite of services.
