#TBTNLO: Mr and Mrs Schröfer retire in 1968

On 20 May 1968, Mr and Mrs Schröfer retired from NLO. The couple had not only been working for NLO for many years, but they had even lived in the office!

Working together

She cleaned and he took care of the coal burners in order to heat the place and most important: together they served coffee, 10 cents a cup. Which, according to employees of that time, contained more Buisman than coffee. However, complaining meant no coffee or tea for an entire week!

One of the first to own a car

At the Zwarteweg office Mr Schröfer was the first employee to buy a car. The message from the management was to park his car further down the street and not in front of the office, because at that time not even all partners owned one.
